Whilst traditional medicine is mostly aimed at healing the physical body, people often find that there are few treatments available for healing the mind or our emotions. Counselling and anti-depressants are often all that are available. These can be very helpful, however, TFT offers something different - a specific therapy for the MIND.
TFT actually aims to solve the root cause of the problem, not talk about it, or numb your senses so you can't feel it. The root cause of the problem is, that you have a thought (or thoughts) and it causes a negative feeling. That makes you feel bad (sad, anxious, fearful, angry, ashamed etc). Often the bad feeling triggers more negative thoughts and the feeling gets worse.
These thoughts are different for everyone but examples are; Heights, spiders, dentists, illness, rape, abuse, crime, grief, divorce, anxiety at say, being good enough, what people think, crowds, workload, anger at someone, something, yourself, shame, embarrassment, rejection, pointlessness. Whatever the problem, it usually involves a thought (or thoughts) which produce a negative emotion (make you feel bad).
Imagine if you could just switch off the message from the brain that produces the negative feeling whenever you think those thoughts!
The result is, that you may still think it, but it simply doesn't bother you anymore. Because it no longer bothers you, quite often you no longer are compelled to think about it. This has the effect of freeing you from the emotional burden that you have carried. It 'takes the weight of your mind,' enabling it to be free to experience more helpful thoughts.
Whilst this does not work for everyone, it does work for many people. In fact, all indications show that its success rate is higher than any other psychological therapy. Results are often achieved when all other approaches have failed. It doesn't require years of treatment or ongoing sessions, often only one session is needed. Multi-layered or complex problems may require a few sessions, but no more. The success rate for fear/phobia, cited by the British Thought-Field Therapy Association is an amazing 80% in one session and 95% with further treatment.
TFT does not involve hypnosis, needles or drugs. It simply involves gently tapping on certain energy centres on the body (similar to those used in acupuncture) WHILST thinking of the problem or problems that bother you. The sequences can be very specific, almost like unlocking a safe with a combination code. If the correct combination is found, the safe can be cracked.
